OHSA Good Practice Award 2010-11

A EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN ON SAFE MAINTENANCE

European Good Practice Award 2010-11

As an acknowledgement to the contribution of entities towards the health and safety at their place of work, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) in collaboration with the Malta Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) will this year be organizing the 10th European Good Practice Awards in Occupational Safety and Health. The aim of this award is to make all employers and workers aware of the benefit derived from good safety and health practices to control risk at work. These 2010-11 award schemes will recognise companies or organizations that have made outstanding and innovative contributions towards the promoting and integrated management approach to safe maintenance. Examples of good practice need to be forwarded to OHSA-Malta. All submissions will be adjudicated by a panel of independent judges. The winner/s will be announced later on during a ceremony held at the OHSA premises in Pieta, and their names submitted to the EU-OSHA.

The European Agency has classified Maintenance into two sections, mainly,
Preventive/proactive Maintenance – carried out to keep something functional and preventing it from failure.
Corrective/reactive Maintenance – repairing something to get it working again.
